John McCormack and his wife, Catherine Kerr, emigrated from the Isle of Arran, Scotland to Blackland, New Brunswick, Canada in 1832. John's brother William and his wife also departed Arran at the same time. Subsequently, many McCORMACKs left this area of New Brunswick for California and Maine in the 1870s and 1880s. Others moved on to British Columbia.
