Relates the family stories of three brothers born in Poland between 1841 and 1851. The three moved with their families from Poland to the Russian controlled Province of Volhynia between the mid 1870s and early 1880s. The Fred ALTWASSER Sr. family came to Canada in 1894 followed in 1905 by the family of his brother Gottlieb. Their brother August and his family remained in Volhynia. However, some of August's descendants eventually made it to Canada in the mid 1920s and late 1940s. Surprisingly, most of those remaining behind survived the terrible times of the First World War, the 1917 Russian Revolution and the intervening years until the start of World War II. Yellow Grass is in the Province of Saskatchewan.
