The movie, Roots in the Soil 18 October, is a genealogy study of the legend told by Ada Reed Hemler 1886-1972 regarding Reed family origins in Dallas, Texas. This movie was presented at a CAGGNI genealogy society meeting with discussion on how to make a family history movie using Movie Maker and Audacity free software programs. Notes and handouts are in the members-only section of CAGGNI's website and newsletter. This story takes place during the Civil War and Reconstruction era in MS, LA, AR, TX, and OK.
