This Scotch-Irish family of Covenanters (Reformed Presbyterians) first immigrated to the Colonies in 1735/6. Joseph settled on the Pennsylvania frontier near Carlisle in 1747. The Junkin family included many Reformed Presbyterian ministers. The most famous was Dr. George Junkin (1790-1868). His daughter Eleanor was the first wife of Thomas Stonewall Jackson.
