This Prussian province shared its western border with the countries Belgium, Luxembourg, and  the Netherlands. On its south was France and the Pfalz (part of Bayern). Its eastern neighbors included Westfalen, Hessen-Nassau and Hessen. Today this region is divided as follows. The northern portion is part of Nord-Rhein Westfalen; the central/south area became part of Rheinland-Pfalz and the southern-most portion is now part of Saarland.
