Choose the most appropriate mailing lists and/or newsgroups to advertise your site on. Don't send out an announcement to EVERY group you can find (a.k.a. "Spam") because this can be a waste of system resources for those groups that wouldn't have an interest in your site. It is also against the generally accepted rules of netiquette (cooperative and polite behavior on the Internet). Following are some of the more general mailing lists & newsgroups.
