The entries are arranged numerically. Deaths from 1908-1949 were recorded on certificates . They are arranged numerically by registered number then by date of death (i.e. month & year). Some records in this collection may be for deaths occurring before 1908 where the remains were re-interred between 1908 and 1949.

Military Death Certificates, 1941-1953.
Utah State Archives Series 3769. These are death certificates for United States soldiers killed overseas during World War II and the Korean War whose bodies were sent to Utah for reburial. Even though these certificates were filed long after the date of death, it was necessary by law to obtain a death certificate before burial. They were issued by the Federal Security Agency to be filed at Utah's Bureau of Vital Statistics and they were accompanied by a federal health permit number which allowed shipment and burial in the United States.

Utah State Archives Series 15842. These records contain death registers for the years 1898-1905. Each entry has the decedent' s name, date of death, place of death, term of residence, sex, color, race, age, occupation, cause of death, marital status, birthplace, residence, and name of informant.

Vital Records and Statistics Death certificates, 1904-1961
Utah State Archives Series 81448. DESCRIPTION: The Utah Office of Vital Records and Statistics began issuing death certificates in 1904. A death certificate is the permanent legal record of an individual's death. Each death certificate includes the decedent's full name, date of death, county where death occurred, decedent's race and gender, place and date of birth, marital status, occupation, permanent residence, place and date of burial, time of death, chief cause and contributory factors of death, and if applicable, where illness was contracted and duration of illness. Death certificates also include the names and birthplaces of parents.
