Descendants of Andrew BROWN, Sr., Settler of Black Point, Maine
Andrew, who had been bred a merchant from his youth upwards, came to this country in c1643. His son Andrew lived in Scarborough, but removed to York, where he resided in 1699. Andrew bought land at Winter Harbor in 1717, and lived there a short time, but removed to Arundel before 1719. He owned mills on Brown's mill river, where he resided. He must have been a very aged man at the time of his removal into this town; and he lived but a few years after that period.

Descendants of James BLACKWOOD Revolutionary War Soldier and Settler of Dennysville, Maine
According to family tradition, James was born c1741/2 in Belfast, Ireland, came to America in May or June 1777 (he was 35 in Spring of 1777). He was an officer of the British Army and served with Burgoyne at Saratoga; captured at Stillwater in 1777, and, when released, joined the American forces. After his discharge, James was employed by/friends with Col. Benjamin Lincoln, a Hingham, MA farmer. Early in the season of 1786, an expedition comprised of Hingham farmers set sail from Massachusetts Bay to take possession of a new purchase in Maine. James Blackwood settled on a farm at Young's Cove (now Pembroke, ME), and he and his wife are buried somewhere on this lot, although the graves are not easy to discern and/or identify.

Thomas Skillings was from Salem and was among the early settlers of Gloucester, MA. His land was near the ancient burying ground. As early as 1651, he had moved to Falmouth (Portland), but had returned and was living in Gloucester in 1658, and that year came back to Falmouth and died there in 1667. In 1658, he purchased the farm at Back Cove from George Cleeves, which he occupied until his death and which was held in the family for many years.

A free registration, publication and support consortium for Ancestral Family Organizations (AFOs) that have historical connections to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
