In Beulake and Aalsmeer, unrelated Pijlman namesakes found their existence in the peat in the 17th century. The one Pijlman tribe in the later drowned village of Beulake; the other Pijlman tribe consisting of three Peselman brothers who came to Aalsmeer from Osnabrück and were given the name Pijlman there. The Aalsmeers later settled more in and around Amsterdam. The Beulake Pijlman moved more to the new peat areas towards Friesland and Drenthe.
