Ancestors of George Russell ACKERMANN
Clemens Ackermann was born in Bavaria, Germany c1838, died 11 Mar 1896 in Wheeling, Ohio, WV. Clemens emigrated circa 2 Jun 1870, possibly arriving NY, whereupon he set out to find his future in the American west. After a short period of working in the coal mines of PA, he made his way to Wheeling, WV, found work in his field as a blacksmith, and married Barbara Heil in Wheeling, Ohio, WV, 2 Jun 1870. Barbara was born 16 Jul 1842 in Wheeling, Ohio, WV, the daughter of Andrew Heil and Elizabeth Hohmann (both of Hesse, Germany), and died 27 Jun 1922 in Wheeling, Ohio, WV. Clemens and Barbara raised a large family. On 6 Sep 1880, he petitioned to become an American citizen and was naturalized. My husband is a great-grandson of Clemens and we are hoping to discover the identity of his parents, etc. We welcome any information that would assist us in this endeavor.
