Origins: Sensebachs in Germany & Migrations to America
This book is the genealogy and biography of the Sensebach family in Germany, including those who migrated to colonial America. The family’s earliest roots trace to the 1500’s in the County of Wied; the family surname emerged with Chuno Christian Sensebach. Chuno was a university graduate in the early 1600’s. He and his family witnessed the tumultuous history of the middle Rhine River region over the century that followed. In addition to Chuno, this book traces four generations of his descendants, including those who migrated to the British colonies of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and the Maritime colonies. Appendices are included with detailed proofs, as well as genealogies of related families. In addition to the Sensebach family, other families include Buchstäber, Christ, Böckling, Reinhard, Neitzert, Mantz, Noll, Kaul, Puderbach, Melsbach, Dörfer, Ehlscheid, Mertgen, and Anhäuser. This is the fifth volume in the Sensebach Family Genealogy Series. This is a second edition of that volume, extensively expanded, with new findings and many more maps and photos, telling the fascinating stories of Chuno and his descendants.
