Cherokee Country. East Tennessee. 1762 Map. TNGenWeb Project (TNGenNet)
A Draught of the Cherokee Country, On the West Side of the Twenty four Mountains, commonly called Over the Hills; Taken by Henry Timberlake, when he was in that Country in March 1762. Likewise the Names of the Principal or Headmen of each Town and what Number of Fighting Men they send to War. This is a map of Cherokee towns along the Tennessee River, drawn in 1762 and published in Memoirs of Lieut. Henry Timberlake in 1765. Cherokee towns include Tellassee, Chilhowey, Halfway Town, Settacoo, Chote the Metropolis, Tennessee, Toqua, Tommotley, Toskegee, and Mialoquo or the Great Island. The site of Fort Loudon is also included.
