Records of the New York Juvenile Asylum
Historian Clark Kidder provides a searchable list of over 40,000 children gleaned from the original records of the New York Juvenile Asylum and New York House of Refuge from circa 1825-1923. The Asylum was designed to house, educate, reform, and indenture children who were homeless, truant, and criminal (convicted of petty crimes) in New York City. Kidder will also provide images of the original records for a fee.
