The project was started in June of 2003 to see if DNA mapping of Thornton males combined with traditional genealogical research could help sort out the Thomas, Luke and William Thorntons who seem to be everywhere you look in early Virginia records. We also hope to see if we can break through some of the Thornton brick walls and connect those lines into known Thornton lineages or prove that they don't connect.
