REDDICK / r320 DNA Surname Project (FamilyTreeDNA)

R320 is the Soundex coding for the general spelling (R*D*K) of most of the surnames appearing in this project.READDICK, REDDICK, REDDIG, REDDITT, REDDOCH, REDICK, RETTIG, RIDDICK, RUDDICK, and RUDDOCK are spellings amongst the surnames that we are testing. Historically, some of these modern surnames connect back to folks with spellings like Radick and Readick (known from Georgia). Census and other records also carry other spellings - e.g., Ready and Reddy. This can make working back through a paper trail a very difficult and sometimes quite confusing task. The goals of our DNA Surname Project are: 1) Pinpoint our Scot, Germanic & other root origins with closer relationships for some, identify distinct branches from the DNA data comparisons that will follow over the next few years; 2) Prove or disprove a commonality among a few of the several spelling variations (i.e., Reddick, Reddoch, Riddick, Ruddick, etc.).

We welcome anyone with the surname ROSE (or variations thereof) to participate in our project. Since surnames are passed down from father to son like the Y-chromosome, membership in this project requires testing the YDNA of a male who carries the Rose surname. The goals of this project are to unite Rose families around the world who share common ancestors, to assist our members in learning more about their ancestors and in overcoming road blocks in their genealogical research. Although a female can not take a YDNA test, she can sponsor a test for a male who carries this surname. Both males and females can take mtDNA and Family Finder tests.
