Family History Information Standards Organisation (FHISO)
FHISO is an international organisation established for the purpose of developing and recommending information standards for genealogy and family history purposes. It exists to bring together genealogy companies of all sizes, as well as professional genealogists and hobbyists, to collaborate on standards that will benefit the work of genealogists around the world. A number of draft standards are available for public comment at http://tech.fhiso.org/drafts/.

National Genealogical Society - GENTECH Genealogical Data Model
GENTECH is widely known for the work that its Lexicon Working Group has done in developing the GENTECH Genealogical Data Model, a formal model of genealogical data and of the genealogical research process. The model is of fundamental interest to developers of genealogy software.

STEMMA Project - Family History Data
STEMMA is an ongoing research project to develop an internationally applicable representation of micro-history, which includes both genealogy and family history. The representation puts great emphasis on the use of narrative, the relationship of evidence to source information, structured multi-person events, hierarchical place entities, and extensibility. It is published to inspire similar research and standards development.
