Helen Doxford Harris - Infant Life Protection Act Index
This Act was established in Victoria Australia in 1890 to regulate baby farmers - women who looked after other women's children for a fee. Because of abuse of the Act, police took over the enforcement of the regulations in 1898, and maintained control until 1908. This webpage lists some of the thousands of names that appear in these records - nurses, mothers and children.

The Victoria Police Historical Society Inc. was formed in 1985 in Melbourne, Australia. Following a successful reunion at the Prahran Police Station, a group of serving policemen joined with members of an historical police re-enactment society and a group of police vehicle enthusiasts, to form an historical society that focused on all aspects of Victoria Police history.
