Jane ISON Family History Group
The group had its beginnings in 1991 when a number of descendants of Jane Ison formed a group to arrange a celebration to mark her arrival in New South Wales in October 1794. Dedicated to the research and publication of the history of the descendants of convict, Jane Ison and her husbands, William Bryan(t) and William Eaton, and to the conservation of sites of relevance to the family.

State Archives and Records NSW - Child Care and Protection Guide
The activity of child care and protection was established in the Colony of New South Wales (NSW) by 1801. The role of and the institutions managed by government in carrying out this activity changed over time. Initially care was provided for orphans and destitute children by the establishment of schools and asylums. The activity of care also included managing and arranging apprenticeships and placement in domestic service.
