Some unknown Swedes in old Leadville
These old photos are some that I have from Leadville Colorado are from the late 1890's and early 1900's. If you happen to recognize any of the persons with name or places or other stories about them, please contact me on e-mail by clicking this link. Please send me an email if you are interested in the Swedes who lived in the old Leadville. In my database I have information about more than 1000 Swedes who lived in Leadville from the end of the 1870s forward in the 1950s. Thanks! /Willy Johansson Sweden Even if you don't know any persons at the photos, feel free to contact me if you want to exchange information about old Leadville or discuss, the lodge [the Court Scandia No 9 of Forester’s of America] or the Swedes in Leadville those years. Min mailadress är: (Each photo's id number is placed below the photo. I will try to update this page with the information you and other people will help me with.)
The men or boys seem to have had a good social life during those years in Leadville. Among others they joined a lodge, the Court Scandia No 9 of F o A (Forester’s of America). The Court Scandia held regularly meetings (and social meetings) sometimes several times a month. It seemed to be a very well organized group of respected men that joined the Court Scandia. It’s my guess that many of those people at the unidentified photos below are people from that lodge but also other people who lived in Leadville during those years. You will also find some children and finaly some photos of mines that I can’t identify.
