I'm looking for DATA for this site!!!

If you are interested in adding your families' information to this website, email me. I'd be happy to help your families' obituaries, news items and other historical data find a home here at Illinois Genealogy Trails, where it will remain free for all to view.

I'm looking to add the transcribed data from the vital records, biographies from the county histories as well as the county history information itself, transcriptions of obituaries, burial data from cemetery trompings and/or readings, the data from military pensions and other service records; enumerations from census years, any newspaper gleanings for the family members including birth announcements, marriage announcements, death notices/obits and anything in between - in short, the data you used to build your family tree
(rather than the tree itself since we don't have the space or manpower to accept gedcoms and trees)

I REGRET THAT I AM UNABLE TO DO PERSONAL RESEARCH FOR YOU.
ALL DATA IS ADDED TO THE SITE AS WE COME ACROSS IT, SO IF IT IS NOT HERE YET, KEEP CHECKING BACK!

Crawford County was established December 31, 1816 (Territorial Laws, 1815 16, p. 21), formed from Edwards County, Illinois Territory. Sometimes known as "Great Crawford County", its area extended from the Wabash to the middle of Illinois, and from its present southern border almost to the Canadian border.

Crawford County was formed in 1816 out of Edwards County. At the time of its formation, it encompassed about one third of the State, but it was reduced to its present borders by 1831 as it spawned new counties. It was named in honor of William H. Crawford, from Georgia, who was serving as Secretary of War and Secretary of the Treasury at the time. Crawford County was home to several battles between the settlers and Indians...

The crime committed that resulted in the first woman in Illinois to be hanged was committed in Crawford county (though she was actually executed in Lawrence County)
