George Town, which is situated at the mouth of the picturesque Tamar River in Northern Tasmania, has an amazing combination of history and heritage together with a range of fascinating attractions and activities. First settled in 1804 it has had an up and down history. It has been the headquarters of Northern Tasmania, popular holiday location, fishing village and industrial town.

Our aim is to foster an interest and understanding of the history of the region.
Through monthly forums, guest speakers, excursions, biennial conferences, displays and involvement with other groups with similar interests we hope to achieve our aim.
