The Audio Records Collection contains recordings of meetings, public hearings, floor recordings, and oral histories.
Titles in this collection cover a range of topics and agency types. Many of the recordings in this collection are meeting recordings. These can serve as an audible record of a meeting, and some of the titles have corresponding meeting minutes in the “Minutes and Meeting Records Collection.”
Other recordings include public hearings, as defined by the Open Public Meetings Act (42.30 RCW); and recordings of legislative floor sessions and committee hearings.
There are also oral histories included in this collection. Oral histories are recordings of individuals whose personal experiences relate to historical events and experiences. Some of the titles containing oral histories have corresponding transcripts which can be found in the “Miscellaneous Family History Collection.”
The audio recordings are searchable by date, source, and keyword. Keyword searches will search the entire recording for the word. Audio recordings can also be browsed by record series.
