INTRODUCTION Milton McClellan EVERLY was born in Greene Co., Pennsylvania, in 1862, the oldest son of Alonzo Allison EVERLY and Eliza Rachel CUSHMAN. He became a circuit-riding minister in West Virginia, Ohio, Colorado, and Utah. Although he started out as a Methodist Protestant minister, Milton became a Congregational minister in September 1901. After leaving Utah, he moved to Moreno or Lakeview, California, and his journal ended at that time. He died of tuberculosis in San Diego in 1910. Volume 1 of Milton Everly's journal covers the period August 1885 to July 1891. Volume 2 covers the period November 1891 to July 1900, and Volume 3 covers the period September 1900 through November 1904. The original three-volume journal is owned by a cousin. I have extracted the records of marriages, baptisms (a few), and funerals. The events are arranged chronologically on this page and are separated by state. In some cases I couldn't determine which county he was in on a particular day, but the careful reader may be able to make an educated guess by looking at the surrounding entries. With the exception of EVERLY, MCNEIL(L), and OVERHOLT, I have no further information on the people mentioned in Milton Everly's journal. In the few cases where he gave additional information beyond the basics, I have included it here. WEST VIRGINIA (August 1885-September 1897) BURR/PILES: 5 August 1885 Mr. Alvon J. BURR m.
