The Weekly Kansas Chief Births, Marriages, Deaths and other News Items and Current Events, January 1872 - December 31 1875. NOTES FROM COMPILERS: When reading the contents of this book which was carefully copied from reels of microfilm, it is our warning to be very aware of the spelling of the many thousand names herein. The Chief's correspondents used different spellings of many of the surnames they were writing about. If the name you seek is not where one might suppose it to be in the index, look further for that particular name. During these years sweet corn was introduced. The Parcel Post was offered and the next year postal cards were offered by the Postal Service. Rural mail was not created in Doniphan County until after 1900. Many of the pages are strewn with accidents of all kinds; many of them fatal.

-
The Weekly Kansas Chief Births, Marriages, Deaths and other News Items and Current Events, January 1881 - March 1886. NOTE FROM THE COMPILERS: When searching for a particular name, please be aware of the spelling of any surname. The correspondents, in supplying Mr. Miller news of their neighborhood were not too accurate in writing surnames and the printer had no way of knowing any different. In several instances we felt the spelling was wrong, but would almost sound the name when pronounced. Please keep this in mind when searching the index for your ancestor's name.
