- Paradise Genealogical Society - Butte County, CA - Butte County California Obituaries
The Paradise Genealogical Library in Butte County houses an obituary card file which contains more than 55,000 obits collected from local newspapers from 1970-2006 although there are a few from earlier in the 20th century. They have indexed A and B and are currently working on the rest of the alphabet. Their staff will gladly search the card files for those names not yet indexed.

This new book available in April 2006, by Nancy Peterson & published by the California Genealogical Society, addresses difficulties encountered by researchers seeking early San Francisco city & county records. It tells where to find extant original pre-1906 records, describes the losses & points the way to alternative sources.
- San Francisco Deaths, 1865-1905
This project, compiled by Barbara Ross Close et al & published by the California Genealogical Society, was developed to fill the gaps for researchers because many pre-1905 San Francisco death records were destroyed in April 1906. This work integrates surviving city records with reliable secondary records, such as newspaper obituaries, and provides an easily searchable database.
