Oshkosh Vital Records Index | Oshkosh Public Library
Search for vital records as reported in Oshkosh Wisconsin newspapers from 1861 to the present. This index covers primarily those records published in the Oshkosh Northwestern newspaper. The Northwestern was founded as a weekly in 1861. From 1868 to 1909 both daily and weekly editions were printed. Since then, it has been a daily paper. While there have been many short-lived competitors, the Northwestern was the city's only newspaper for most of the 1900s.

Online searchable index from the Wisconsin Historical Society. The Pre-1907 Wisconsin Birth Index was made by digitizing a microfiche index and then expanding it with tens of thousands of delayed births, or births that were filed many years after the event, that were previously indexed separately. The result is free public access to more than 1 million Wisconsin births, dating from the 1840s through 1907. The index can be searched by surname or browsed by county & year. When an ancestor is found, a copy of the birth record may then be ordered online for a fee. The Society plans to add pre-1907 death and marriage indexes in the near future.
